Whether you’re idly scrolling through Instagram or walking down the streets of NYC, you’re bound to run into that girl. You know, that girl. The one whose style, hobbies, and mere existence make you want to curl up in the fetal position and dramatically whisper, “I will never be cool.”

Mia Moretti is unquestionably that girl. As one half of DJ/violin duo The Dolls, she's performed everywhere from New York Fashion Week to The Louvre. She's also mega humble and fun to hang out with, as we learned after spending the day with her in New York City. She brought along a Canon PowerShot N camera to document the little moments that make up her day, and we tagged along to film it all. We watched Mia snap shots as she finalized the artwork for her first single, “Summer of ’93,” talked about how she got her start DJing, and showed us how to take inspiration away from everything — Canon's pop-up art installation, the NY Waterway ferry, and even Wo Hop, the prolific Chinese food hole-in-the-wall she visits late nights after DJ sets.

What draws someone like Mia to New York? “I think one of the best things about New York City is that you’re kind of surrounded by creative people. Just stepping outside, you’re inspired by something or someone.” We agree.
